DESCRIPTION

Megan Fisher is a Paralympic gold, silver, and bronze medal cyclist from the Rio 2016 and London 2012 Games, ten-time world champion, retired member of Team USA, high altitude mountaineer, Doctor of Physical Therapy, performance coach, and motivational speaker.

In this Under the Big Sky bonus, Megan talks about how Betsy, a furry companion, helped her regain mobility and an active lifestyle. Betsy, her Border Collie Heeler mix had a tremendous amount of energy that needed an outlet. This led Megan and Betsy to join the cycling community.

Megan’s road to success has not been easy. When she was just 19 years old, Meg was involved in a tragic car accident that nearly killed her- leaving her in a coma and stealing the lower half of her left leg. A lifelong athlete, Meg has discovered that “We are all capable of more than we know.”

Prior to the car accident, Megan competed as a NCAA Division I tennis player. After the accident, Megan fought to overcome relatively simple challenges, like feeding herself, standing and walking. Incredibly, less than a year after the loss of her leg, Megan returned to college and finished her first triathlon. That one race proved to her that she could overcome any obstacle and achieve her wildest dreams.

Megan continues to explore her own physical boundaries. She uses these experiences to inspire and motivate as well as to raise awareness for organizations.
